This train engine is the largest steam locomotive in the world . It is known as the "Big Boy 4014". Built in 1941, it is 132 feet in length, (almost half the length of a football field). It weighs over 1.2 million pounds. I took this picture around May 10, 2019 when it was making a tour for the 150th Golden Spike Celebration in Evanston, Wyoming. I graduated from Evanston High School, and I also graduated from Utah State University.
When I was 9 years old, my younger brother, 7 years old, and my younger sister, 4 years old, and I inadvertently got caught between two trains moving in opposite directions traveling at about 30 mph to 40 mph for about 3 minutes. It was scary and unintentional, but we all survived !!!
The winter of 2022 / 2023 was a "record breaking" year for the amount of snowfall in many parts of Utah. In my yard at one time there was 40 inches of snow on the flat ground, (piles were higher). There were two snowstorms where we received 15 inches of snow overnight. On Easter Sunday, (April 9, 2023), there was still 30 inches of snow on the flat ground at my house. The snow did not melt completely off my yard until May 4, 2023. I love a good snowstorm and have been measuring the snow amounts of every storm at my house, and have kept records since the winter of 2016 / 2017.
